Just in the Nick of Time...

Card Front

I wasn't sure if I would be able to do it, but I surprised myself and did!  Yes ma'am (or sir), I actually started and finished a card for the MFT Color Challenge. :) Wahoo!!

These are the colors chosen to provide inspiration for your crafty creations:

I love that they are so cheerful and bright, especially since it has been so cold and gloomy lately.  Honestly, you can't help but smile when you look at this vibrant color combo...reminds me of summer days and sunshine and margaritas. :)

Card Interior
The stamps used are from a retired MFT set called "DC- Own Your Own Story" and the little typewriter is from Sizzix and is called "Noted", which is accompanied with coordinating dies (I purchased mine at Hobby Lobby).  As for the retired MFT stamps...although the MFT site no longer carries them, occasionally they can be found in other online and brick and mortar stores.

Thanks for popping by!!  I hope you have a wonderful evening; and if you have a chance to play, stop by the MFT Challenge blog and get your lovely creation in.  Who knows...you could be the lucky winner of a MFT gift voucher.

Hugs and Smiles!

Friends are Sewn One Stitch at a Time

Card front

Once again, I have the joy and pleasure of playing along in some fun challenges with my bestie, Carmen.  This week, a new set of challenges have been issued by Susan Opel and the talented ladies of the MFT Challenge and Inspiration Blog.  On Wednesday: a sketch challenge; on Thursday: a color challenge...the sketch challenge is weekly; however, the color challenge takes place every second and fourth Thursday of the month.  I am hoping to be able to find time and play in each week's challenge...fingers and toes crossed!

Card interior

Today's card, was inspired by this week's fabulous sketch:

I flipped it counterclockwise for a vertical card.  Since I have very little time to get crafty...you know...that whole work, family, and house stuff that seems to take up the majority of our days...I haven't purchased many current stamps or dies.  So, the stamps and dies used for this card have been discontinued.  I bought them during one of the awesome MFT clearance sales; therefore, all of the MFT items used are now discontinued.  Still, they are MFT nonetheless.  Maybe now that I am attempting to fit crafting into my hectic schedule, I will be able to acquire a few current items.  We shall see.  I am cheap frugal person on a rather tight budget, which means I may simply wait until the next blowout sale.  Fortunately, I am an extremely patient person with loads of will power...at least I am going to keep telling myself that. ;)

Next, I am going to attempt the fun color challenge!  Wish me luck. :)  In case you are interested and would like to play along, here are the colors:

Cool colors, huh?  I love them!!  I don't have much in those colors, but I plan on doing my very best to get something whipped up before the deadline.

Well, that about does it for me.  Now, I am going to scrounge for items to use for the color challenge.  Thank you so very much for dropping by.  I very much appreciate it.  I hope you have a wonderfully blessed weekend!
Hugs and smiles,
Carolyn

Be Joyful in Hope

Sneaking in a quick post about card three.  As I stated in my previous post, I was challenged by my amazing friend, Carmen, to find make some time to create this weekend.  Surprisingly, I managed to create three cards (two of which were posted yesterday), and this card.  Also, like the previous post, I used the inspiration provided by the talented designers at Unity Stamps for the Unity {be inspired} Challenge...and they definitely came through on the inspiration!  For this card, I used the beautiful stamp set: All About Hope.  It is a wonderfully versatile set, and I absolutely love it!!  Extra special THANKS to Carmen for gifting it to me!! :)  I followed the color challenge and the card sketch, which brought the card together easily and without too much hair-pulling-out. ;)  I am rather happy with the end result.  Thank you to the ladies at Unity for such a fun challenge and all the lovely inspiration.  Have a wonderful evening everyone!!!

Hugs and Smiles,
Carolyn

Crafty Time with Friends

For the first time in a very long time, I have been able to create.  Typically, my work schedule (and life schedule) has interfered with my crafty time.  Fortunately, I have an amazing friend, Carmen Olson, who keeps me inspired and keeps me on top of things...such as reminding me to actually take time to find some "me" time.  In fact, this weekend, she issued me and a few of our other friends a challenge to create something this weekend...and even provided us with the link to a wonderful challenge--the Unity {be inspired} Challenge.   Needless to say, I accepted her challenge and actually made three cards.  Here are two:

For both cards, I chose to use a few of the color choices provided as inspiration.  The stamp set used is the only one I have from Unity and was gifted to me by Carmen and is called: All About Hope.  It is such a beautiful set, and I was incredibly happy to be able to get inky with it!

This card also uses one of the stamps from the All About Hope set.  As for the kite, it was one of the amazing dies from MFT Stamps (and it was 90% off during their clearance extravaganza...so unfortunately, I think it has been discontinued).  I absolutely LOVE their products; but with my extremely tight budget, I can only afford the items that find their way to the clearance bin.  No worries!  I am a patient lady and have no problem waiting for the next awesome sale. :)  I am not as happy with this card...wish I would have chosen a blue background and different colors.  Bwah! Bwah! Bwah!  Oh, well!  As the saying goes, hindsight is always 20/20.  Anyhoo!  I had fun, and that is all that matters...I will post card three tomorrow.  For now, it is time to get some house stuff done (blech!).  Hoping to find some crafty time to play again tonight.  Until then, ciao bellas!!

Hugs and Smiles!

Finally Able to Play!

I truly need to get the hang of all the changes to Blogger.  Maybe, what I need to do is actually post something more frequently than I do...if only there were enough hours in a day to do so.  Oh well, it is what it is, and I will simply have to adapt and practice more patience.

On a brighter note, I was able to get inky and play with some "new" stamps and dies.  Recently, I acquired the Papertrey Ink "On My Couch" stamps and dies...and had a blast!!  Honestly, I learned that I am incredibly rusty at the whole card making process...choosing the appropriate colors...finding the perfect ink...then, the whole layout thing...I could feel my clogged creative juices slowly begin to flow.  Even though the creativity was flowing at a trickle, it was flowing nonetheless.  Yes, I was a happy stamper. =)
